Konferenz: Pandemic ethics in Georgia and Germany

Summer School PaGeDe for PhD students and Early Career Researchers from Georgia und Germany funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research

Time: 12 – 16 September 2022
Venue: Centre for Bioethics, WWU Münster

Background
The corona pandemic confronts us with difficult moral questions: Is it justified to restrict the fundamental freedoms of individuals in order to ensure the protection of the health of the population? Are there justifying reasons for preferential treatment of individual patients if medical resources like artificial respiration units are not available in sufficient quantity? Can compulsory vaccination against the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 be justified?
The summer school will deal with selected questions and aspects of pandemic ethics in view of the experience with the corona pandemic. A special focus will be on the exchange of both practical experience and scientific debates on pandemic ethics in Georgia and Germany, an exchange of different national experiences and a synopsis of various disciplinary approaches.

Invitation
We are inviting up to 15 PhD students and Early Career Researchers from Georgia and Germany working in the fields of ethics, political and social sciences, law or life sciences who are prepared to present their own work on the corona pandemic and/or pandemic ethics, interested in an exchange on their respective disciplinary and country-specific experiences and willing to discuss them with renowned experts from both countries.
